Réside:  Salt Spring Island; a aussi vécu à Paulatuk, Inuvik, Yellowknife et Vancouver

Sculptures, Dessins, Imprimeries

       Le frère d'Abraham,  David Ruben Piqtoukun, est aussi un artiste connu.   

       Abraham a étudié l'imprimerie, l'orfèvrerie et la production de sculptures sous la tutelle de

       Ron Senungtuk, un Inuk d'Alaska, à l'Université d'Alaska.

       HONNEURS, ACOMPLISSEMENTS et ÉVÉNEMENTS


       1974 Anghik recoit une bourse culturelle pour participer à un voyage d'étude de l'art de

Colombie-Britannique financé par le Ministre des affaires autochtones et

Développement du Nord du Canada.

       1975  La Société pour l'encouragement du talent du Nord choisit un dessin de chouette

  d'Abraham Anghik comme emblème pour leur armoirie.

       1977   Il prend part au vernissage de son exposition solo tenu à la Pollock Gallery de Toronto.

       1979   Commissionné par le  Nahanni Chapter of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of

                  the Empire pour sculpter une pièce qui fut offerte au Prince of Wales Northern

                  Heritage Centre à Yellowknife.  La sculpture, intitulé "Children of the Light", prit quatre mois

  et demi à compléter.

       1979    Il recoit une bouse culturelle pour participer à la  Eskimo Art-in-Conference (II) tenu à Winnipeg.

       1980    Il est un des six artistes inclus dans le portfolio commémoratif de reproduction publié pour assister

                    la rénovation et l'expansion du Royal Ontario Museum

       1980    Il recoit une bourse culturelle pour participer à la Eskimo Art-in-Conference (III) tenu à

                   Yellowknife.

       1989   La sculpture "Shaman/Sedna with Raven Familiar"  se retrouve sur la page couverture de l'édition

   d'été du magazine Inuit Art Quarterly.

       1991    Il gagne le prix de $100,000 à la compétition de sculptures Glaxo Canada Inc. pour une pièce

                   de 16 pieds intitulée  "Northern Myth, Northern Legend".

       1991    Il est instructeur à la session d'artiste tenu à Ottawa par le  Inuit Artists' College.

 

       1993    Il est élu Chaire du comité national canadien pour l'exposition  "Arts from the Arctic."

       1995    Accompagné de Joe et Bill Nasogaluak, Abraham complète une oeuvre de six mètres

                    et six tonnes en acier, métal et béton nommée "Spirits of the Land" pour l'entrée de la tour

                  de la bourse de Calgary, Alberta.
